There were three royal governors of Georgia. The first governor, John Reynolds, brought self-government to Georgia. he set up a court system. He had court relations with the natives. Much of the colony still remained poor. He was an unpopular and ineffective leader. The colonists petitioned to have him removed from office. The second governor, Henry Ellis, restored the colony and reformed the government. He helped the Creek Indians. He was very well liked and respected. He helped set up a bicameral legislature giving people more of a choice. He divided Georgia into parishes with representation in each. The third governor, James Wright, was the most popular and most effective governor. He was the last governor of Georgia. The economy improved greatly. The population increased. He also helped increase the size of Georgia after the French and Indian War.
